Sea Change Strategies

My Contributions
Co-founders Mark and Alia have over 50 years of combined experience in the field of communications and public engagement in the non-profit sector. While they needed a website that demonstrated their expertise and leadership, they also needed a look-and-feel that would express their personality as friendly and quirky storytellers.

In 2021 I collaborated with Wire Media to develop the site. I served as both UX and UI designer and created the wireframes, visual identity, and final design of the site.
Project Overview
Sea Change Strategies is a Brooklyn-based firm offering training and resources for mid-level fundraisers of non-profits. Their fundraising strategies have benefitted non-profits such as ACLU, Oregon Food Bank, and Arbor Day Foundation. As the lead designer on the team, I collaborated closely with the co-founders to redesign their brand and build their website.

The Problem
Sea Change Strategies’ website and branding needs to reflect their expertise in fundraising strategies for nonprofits. They want to expand their current client base beyond the relationships they have within the industry.
Design Opportunity
How will we convey Sea Change Strategies’ fundraising methodologies with a new visual identity? How will we create leads for target clients?
Business Goals
  • Update visual identity, build a new and responsive website.
  • Generate leads specifically for mid-level clients by improving the UX of each stage in the conversion funnel.

A New Visual Identity

After doing some comparative research, I created several style tiles for the client to determine the direction they wanted to take for the brand redesign. After discussing with the client, our key insight was clear: the client wanted a professional look without compromising their values as engaging fundraising strategists for social good.

The style tile below became the reference point for the new look and feel of the site.
Wireframing the Main Pages
In tandem with the style tiles, I began wireframing the site to highlight their mission and results. At this stage, I began discussions with the lead developer on gated content and lead gen, filters and content hierarchy, and some small custom components.
Final Mockups
After a two day-sprint and two rounds of revisions with the client, these were the final mockups for the new site. View the live site.
